Your statement seems to me to capture some of the important features of "e-learning", particularly the way that it is being increasingly seen. One of the things about e-p;earning is that is a very broad term, used by a lot of people in different ways, but all of those ways have features in common.

I have experience with Bebo. I had my own bebo sight. I had my photos and profile in it. I kept it for 2 years. I felt it was more for younger generation.Everyone I knew who had bebe cite were my teenage daughters age. It is a means of communication as well. I had 14 photos. I was very excited to see photos and see comments from other of my girls friends. someone had a smily face for me and from the smily face came out bumb. I didnt like it so erased my cite.
I also have experince with skype. Teachers at school use skype for communication. It is very useeful and response is fast.
I have used wiki as well it is dood for group work.
